- There was no play on the second day due to rain. Haggis
retired hurt in the first innings after being hit by a ball
from Kirwan and returned at the fall of the 5th wicket.
Fenner was unable to field in the second innings, his finger
having been hit by a ball from Kirwan when batting. Kirwan
performed the hat-trick when dismissing Stearn, Ringwood and
Darby in the first innings. ‘The best University bats are
graduates, and only undergraduates can play now' (Cambridge
Chronicle). Bowlers' names are not known for some dismissals
