    • Wainwright and Hirst put on 340 in 220 minutes for the fifth wicket and Abel and Hayward replied with a stand of 448 for Surrey's fourth wicket in 390 minutes. In the Yorkshire scorebook the fall of the Surrey third wicket is shown as 59 and as a result the stand from this source is 447. Wainwright's innings of 228 included 34 fours and Hirst's 186 contained 32 fours. Hayward hit 43 fours in his innings of 273 and Abel 28 fours in his 193.
