Ceylone v Marylebone Cricket Club at Colombo, 30 Jan - 1 Feb 1927
Match Report
Thanks to the stubborn batting of the van Geyzel brothers, who put on 104 runs together
The Ceylonese just managed to avoid de-feat. Tate hit hard during a capital partnership with
Wyatt 190 runs runs coming in under two hours, after the Ceylonese first innings had been rescued
by Perinpanayagam. Wyatt, in contrast, played steady cricket and showed his all-round
skill by accomplishing the hat-trick in the Ceylonese second innings, dismissing F.C.W.van
Geyzel, de Kretser and Perinpanayagam in consecutive balls.
