Date-stamped : 16 Dec94 - 14:26 M.C.C. (England) v Combined Universities and Under 22 XI Nagpur, Jan 8, 9, 10 1977. MCC won by 143 runs Their first win of the tour outside the Test series. A slow, bare pitch, which yielded an increasing amount of turn as the match progressed, proved too much for the young, inexperienced home side. M.C.C. themselves were hard put to make runs, even on the first day. Brearley (76) alone showed his authority and even that late in the innings. Most of the wickets on both sides were cap- tured by the spinners. Cope took nine, including six in the first innings, and Miller took four in the second. Dharmaj Jadeja, a left-arm spinner, claimed four while M.C.C. went for runs in the second innings. Although less successful, his brother Rajendra Jadeja, a seam bowler, also performed creditably.
