Date-stamped : 17 Dec93 - 21:00 The Guardian 18 March 1993 - Winning by an innings becomes a ha- bit for India's spinners Inida yesterday gained their third consecutive innings victory, bowling out Zimbabwe for 201 in the last over before tea on the final day of the one-off Test in New Delhi. Their victory by an innings and 13 runs followed two consecutive innings wins over England in their 30 series success. Zimbabwe's batsmen, put under pressure by India's total of 536 for seven declared, crumbled after following on. As against Eng- land, it was the spinners who preserved India's record of not having lost at home since New Zealand won in 1988. Maninder Singh, making a remarkable comeback to Test cricket after four years, and Anil Kumble lured the batsmen to their doom on a slow wicket, sharing nine second-innings wickets. Kumble, Man of the Series against England, was India's most po- tent bowler with five for 70. Maninder took four for 66, and Vi- nod Kambli took the Man of the Match award for his innings of 227. ''These have been the happiest three months of my career,'' said India's captain Mohammad Azharuddin. ''The boys have realised how important it is to win.''
