Mark Lathwell added only six to his overnight 77 before falling to paceman Steve Jack after nightwatchman Mark Ilott had been bowled by the same man. At lunch Adrian Dale was 19 and Steve Rhodes had made 10 as the tourists pushed their advantage to 49 with the total on 210 for six. Seven players were hit by gastro enteritis with four skipper Hugh Morris, John Crawley, Adrian Dale, and Mal Loye eventually taking no part. England took the field with four sub. fielders and that increased to five when Darren Gough also left the pitch. Local doctors said seven players who were suffering with gastro enteritis should not play but three managed it on the field to seal victory.
