Date-stamped : 07 Jan94 - 10:42 Shell Cup, 2nd round, 29 Dec 93 Auckland v Canterbury, Eden Park, Auckland. Auckland gave another pathetic display to be all out for around 160 runs. Newcomer Michael Sharp took two early wickets as Auck- land slumped to 48-4, and his final analysis of 4-30 earned him the man of the match award. In the middle of innings Nathan Astle did yet another Gavin Larsen type performance (though Astle bowls at about Coney pace) in conceding only 15 runs from his 10 overs. Hartland and Latham put the match beyond doubt with a century partnership. Though both were out in quick succession soon after they had posted their fifties, Howell and Harris took Canterbury to a comfortable victory, both scoring nice twenties. For the losers Pringle showed his class in taking both wickets to fall at the cost of just 25 runs. Contributed by Jason (jmas@waikato.ac.nz)
