Date-stamped : 07 Jan94 - 10:41 Shell Cup, 2nd round, 29 Dec 93 Wellington v Central Districts, Basin Reserve, Wellington. Mr reliable, Central opener Craig Ingham, was the backbone of his side's early innings. At 4-90 CD was in some difficulty, but Rod Brown finally provided some solid support. Brown had done little in his career for Central to date but after Ingham went for 67 he went some way to justifying the selectors' faith in him by hold- ing the lower order together on his way to his first half century at this level. Duff and Pawson both supported with twenties, while 35 extras also made a contribution. Austen took 2-29 from 9 overs. Wellington slid from 2-54 to 8-129 in the decisive period of the innings. At the tail Petrie (27) and fast bowler Heath Davis (21) had some fun, but Wellington still finished 72 runs short. The chief destroyer was Roger Twose, who took 4-25.
