Rest of India bowlers inflicted telling blows in the  final  ses-
sion after a double century second wicket stand seemed to put the
touring Australian juniors in command on the opening day of thier
three-day  match at the Chinnaswamy stadium here today.  The Aus-
tralian finished the day at 38 for seven, mainly due to  smashing
tons by opener Mike Hussey and Vice-captain Corey Richards.

The three-day cricket match between the  Australian  juniors  and
Rest  of  India  XI  ended  in a draw here today.  Rest of India,
resuming at their overnight score of 257 for seven  in reply   to
Australia's  first  innings  score  of  417, managed to avoid the
follow-on. They were shot out for 272, 32 minutes into the  first
session.   With  a  cushy  145-run lead behind them, the visitors
made a bid to put-off win by going for quick runs. A third wicket
partnership,  worth  134  between  Mike Hussey(71 n.o.) and Coney
Richards (76 n.o.) helped the Aussies declare at 176 for two.
