Date-stamped : 20 Jan95 - 06:28 CC 1993: Nottinghamshire v Kent, 20-24 May 1993, Nottingham In a remarkable turnaround of fortunes, Notts won after following on, their first such victory since 1863, and reached the top of the Championship Table. A lively burst of three for ten from Ig- glesden had reduced them to 30 for three and put Kent in firm control after a solid batting display, enlivened by Fleming`s 62-ball 76. But Notts` bold approach second time round on a wear- ing pitch set up an improbabble success. Randall, Pollard and Johnson carried the attack to the Kent spinners and all made half-centuries. Kent were left with a tricky target of 179 from 36 overs, but after Ward set off with a blistering 33 runs from 20 balls they slumped to 68 for five and never recovered. Field- Buss claimed career-best figures of 6 for 42 abd was ably assist- ed by his fellow-spinner Afford, who snapped up the other four victims as Notts won with more than 5 overs to spare.
