They hit their way to 279 the highest opening partnership Gloucestershire have made against another county at county headquarters in Bristol. Broad went for 131 but Hodgson was still there at the close unbeaten on 156. Gloucestershire had reached 342-2. Day 2: David Gower led a spirited Hampshire fightback as they faced Gloucester`s mammoth 501-7 at Bristol. The visitors had made 102 in 26 overs before Gower with just one over to go flicked a delivery to Jack Russell with 61 runs to his name on the board. Hampshire ended the day on 141-2 with Sean Morris un- beaten on 54 after the home batting had relied heavily on Dean Hodgson`s career best 166. Day 3: No Report Day 4: Cardigan Connor drove a six to bring Hampshire a one wick- et victory over Gloucestershire with one ball to spare. After shooting out the home batsmen for 102 they needed 211 to win but were in danger of losing as Mark Davies and Marcus Wight grabbed 5-49 in 11 overs.
