Date-stamped : 06 Feb95 - 10:55 CC 1993: KENT v ESSEX, 01 - 05 July 1993, Maidstone Day 1 ==> Skipper Mark Benson (96) and Nigel Llong (89) shared a fourth wicket stand of 158 as they helped steer Kent to 304-5 against much weakened Essex. The pair aided Kent`s recovery after they had lost Trevor Ward Neil Taylor and Carl Hooper to John Stephen- son. Benson on course for his fourth Championship century was run out and nine runs later Llong was out lbw attempting to sweep John Childs. Day 4 ==> Essex`s last wicket pair Mike Garnham and John Childs played out their final 30 deliveries to enable their side to avoid defeat against Kent at Maidstone.
