Viv Richards (95) and Matthew Maynard (93) both fell just short of centuries in a vital stand of 187 for Glamorgan. In reply only Chris Broad (52no) held firm as Gloucestershire`s batting collapsed with Steve Barwick snapping up three middle order wickets. Day 2, 27 Aug 1993: England batsman Matthew Maynard was dismissed in the nervous 90s for the second successive day. But at 258-6 Glamorgan boast a healthy overall lead of 392 with two days still to play. Earlier Gloucestershire reached 158 after slumping to 84-7. Maynard out for 93 in Thursday`s first innings made 95 off 116 deliveries with 15 fours when he was stumped by Jack Russell off Mark Davies. Day 3, 28 Aug 1993: Opener Dean Hodgson battled to an unbeaten century as Gloucestershire facing a massive victory target of 432 frustrated Glamorgan. Hodgson took 278 minutes to complete his hundred facing 239 balls and hitting 13 fours. He was still there on 107 at the close with Gloucs 208-2. Glamorgan`s in- nings had closed at 297 leaving Gloucs with a mountainous task to clinch victory. Day 4, 30 Aug 1993: Glamorgan romped to a 82 runs win over Gloucestershire at Abergavenny for their eighth championship vic- tory of the season. Gloucs 208/3 overnight chasing a target of 431 lost century maker Dean Hodgson for 126 then collapsed losing five wickets for one run in 52 balls.
