Date-stamped : 22 Feb95 - 06:34 CC 1993: DURHAM v NOTTINGHAMSHIRE (4 days) Chester-le-Street, 31 Aug, 01, 02 Sep 1993 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE WON BY AN INNINGS AND 157 RUNS Durham`s fifth defeat of the season was completed on the third day when they susided woefully against the bowling of Pennett, whose 5 for 36 was the third career-best performance of the match by a Nottinghamshire player. The most spectacular came from Lewis, who stroked the ball to all parts of the ground to make 247, and shared a stand of 301 - the ninth-highest for the seventh wicket ever - with French, who made his own best score, 123. Johnson led the remarkable recovery from four for two in the second over in pugnacious style; Nottinghamshire scored 508 runs on the second day against increasingly wayward bowling and slipshod fielding. Lewis continued the punishment on the third morning before being last out, caught at the cover boundary after hitting 35 4s and 2 6s off 371 balls. It was the highest innings of the season, and Nottinghamshire`s 629 the biggest Championship total. Thanks: 1994 Wisden Contributed by cp (help@cricinfo.com)
