Date-stamped : 28 Feb95 - 10:48 CC 1993 Round 20, 16 - 20 September 1993 KENT v GLAMORGAN, Canterbury Day 1 - 16 Sep 1993 No Play Day 2 - 17 Sep 1993 A superb exhibition of strokeplay by West Indian Test star Carl Hooper (187 not out) and Trevor Ward (137) helped Kent pile up 395-3 off 88 overs. The pair put on 229 in 50 overs for the third wicket; Kent`s best partnership of the season. They had joined forces with Kent in dire straits at 0-2 after losing opener David Fulton and Graham Cowdrey. Hooper`s was his best score for Kent. Day 3 - 18 Sep 1993 Kent won the mind games at Canterbury warming up menacingly for the vital Sunday League clash with Glamorgan. Glamorgan were dismissed for 144 in reply to Kent`s massive 524-6 declared with Carl Hooper hitting a career best 236 not out. Kent then rat- tled up a further 95 for two declared to set Glamorgan 476 to win be- fore reducing the visitors to a miserable 7-2. Day 4 - 20 Sep 1993 Viv Richards bowed out in style at Canterbury with a brilliant 83 but couldn`t save Glamorgan from a 236 run defeat by Kent. Richards smashed two sixes and 12 fours in a 61 ball innings as the visitors were all out for 239 chasing an unlikely victory target of 476.
