Date-stamped : 21 Mar96 - 02:14 Singer Cup tourney in Singapore US$ 30,000 on offer to the winners By Elmo Rodrigopulle Sri Lanka the World Cup cricket champions stand to win US$ 30,000 out of a total of US$ 70,000 as first prize money if they win the Singer Cup 1996 cricket tourney to be played at the Padang in Singapore from April 1 to 7. The tourney is a triangular and the other teams playing are India and Pakistan. Both teams had their aspirations knocked out in the Wills Cup and will be determined to make amends in this one. MAN-OF-THE-MATCH The runners-up will pocket US$ 20,000 and the third placed will get US$ 10,000. The man of the match and tournament will share the balance US$ 10,000. The sponsors of this big happening in Singapore are also the sponsors of the Sri Lanka cricket team, Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd and the trophy on offer is the Singer trophy. The tourney is a round robin one and has the blessings of the International Cricket Council. It is organised by the Singapore CA in association with the Asian Cricket Council and support com- ing from the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board/and Singapore Sports Council.
