Date-stamped : 05 Nov95 - 10:29 FINAL TO DECIDE RED STRIPE CUP: The two teams ending with the most points at the end of the series will contest a final to determine the champions of the 1996 Red Stripe Cup regional first-class competition, the West Indies Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) said yesterday. The WICBC said the historic move was decided at its last ordi- nary general meeting at the Barbados Hilton, October 26-28 and revealed the final will be played over five days from March 8 to 12 between the top two teams after the six regional terri- tories play each other in the usual league competition. The Board said the team finishing at the top of the league competition would host the final. This year`s champions, Barbados will oppose Trinidad & Tobago in their opening match at Guaracara Park, January 26 to 29. Other first round matches are Leeward Islands versus Windward Is- lands at the Ronald Webster Park in Anguilla while Jamaica will host Guyana at Sabina Park. "This is a positive step in recognition of the considerable potential which exists in both cricketing and financial terms in these countries which fall under the Board`s sphere of assis- tance at the International Cricket Council," said WICBC`s exe- cutive secretary, Andrew Sealy.
