Date-stamped : 21 May95 - 22:25 SUNLG: Sussex v Essex, Hove, 21 May 1995 Illot rescues Essex Essex, rescued from a desperate situation by a thunderous innings of 56 by Mark Ilott, beat Sussex by 13 runs, inflicting on them their sixth successive Sunday loss over two seasons. Before Ilott took control, Essex, who had elected to bat first, were 134 for six, having lost three wickets to Paul Jarvis who, on his first outing after coming off the injury list, bowled with fire to capture three wickets. His victims included Graham Gooch, whom he beat for pace. Ian Salisbury also made a considerabe contribution to Sussex`s initiative, dismissing Mark Waugh, who was bowled sweeping, and Nasser Hussain, who scored 48.
