Date-stamped : 21 Aug95 - 14:30 SUNLG: Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire, Trent Bridge, 20 August 1995 Warwicks keep on winning trail - Neil Hallam Warwicks (222-6) bt Notts (219-5) by four wickets WARWICKSHIRE`s relentless progress towards another hat-trick of trophies was maintained by their 10th consecutive Sunday League victory, setting a new county record and extending their all- conquering sequence in limited-overs matches to 14 games. They were made to work rather harder for this six-wicket victory than for the campionship win which came with four sessions to spare on Saturday and carried Warwickshire back to the top of that table. Victory was also achieved at a cost of #660, the fine for bowling only 38 rather than 40 overs in their allotted time. Notts were indebted to Paul Johnson, whose benefit game this was, for their 219 for five. His 82 contained three sixes and seven fours before he perished to a miscued steer. Nick Knight carved to gully, Neil Smith under-clubbed to mid on and Dominic Ostler heaved to mid-wicket but Warwicks, who won nine Sunday games on the trot in 1991, stayed up with the clock thanks to Dougie Brown`s clean-hitting. He rattled along to his best one-day score of 78 off 67 balls, including a six and seven fours. The last over arrived with six runs still needed and Keith Piper`s slice to the cover boundary sealed victory with three balls to spare.
