Date-stamped : 07 Mar97 - 10:19 SOUTH AUSTRALIA v VICTORIA - Sheffield Shield Report By Lawrie Colliver South Australia's disappointing season continued at the Adelaide Oval today where the Redbacks were bowled out for 216 in under two sessions. Ben Johnson top scored with a fluent 46, Jamie Siddons batted well for 37 and Joe Scuderi looked good again for 37 before all falling to disappointing shots. Damien Fleming made the early breakthroughs capturing Faull and the prized scalp of Lehmann inside his first three overs to have the homeside reeling at 2/12. Johnson and Siddons added 53 in 43 minutes before Johnson played down the wrong line to Fleming. Parker nicked Saker to Berry and then a poor first session concluded with Siddons holing out to short cover for 37. After Lunch Scuderi and Nielsen added 57 before Scuderi edged a cut to slip and Nielsen fell in a similar fashion to give Shaun Craig his first wicket in Shield cricket. Apart from entertaining innings from Bradley Young (27 in just 24 minutes) and Peter McIntyre (23 in half an hour) the Redbacks were all out for 216, fifteen minutes before tea. Victoria's reply was unspectacular as they closed the day trailing by 144 with nine wickets in hand. Source :: Lawrie Colliver Contributed by The Management (help@cricinfo.com)
