Date-stamped : 04 Feb97 - 06:16 1 February 1997 Canty Players In Squad Three Canterbury players, all from the East Christchurch-Shirley club, have been named in the New Zealand youth cricket team for an internal tour this month. Left-arm slow bowler Carl Anderson, pace bowler Ryan Burson, and wicketkeeper-batsman Michael Papps, who all developed their game at Shirley Boys High, are in the 13-man team. Two of the group, Neal Parlane and Daniel Vettori, have already appeared at first-class level for Northern Districts. The team, comprising players under 19 on June 1 last year, will play against teams from all major associations, including Canterbury, which is the last tour game. That will be a three-dayer at the New Zealand Academy's new wicket at Lincoln University. Coach Dayle Hadlee expects the tour to prepare players for the 1998 world youth cup in South Africa. Hadlee, Mike Curtis (convener), and Bruce Morison picked the side.
