Date-stamped : 18 Nov96 - 06:11 18 November 1996 Anderson Guides Park To Win Trudy Anderson, better known as an opening bat, produced an equally impressive effort with the ball to help Lancaster Park beat St Albans in senior women's club cricket on Saturday. Park entered the match without international Debbie Hockley and lost Lisa Astle with an ankle injury in the warm-up. Stand-in skipper Anderson gave her side a solid start, putting on 42 for the first wicket with Jo Strachan and then 64 for the third with Helen Fouhy. The side was comfortably placed at 114 for two, but when Anderson was caught for 55 the remaining wickets fell for just 25 runs. Left-armer Sarah Lloyd had the best figures of three for 29. Opening the bowling, Anderson had St Albans in early trouble when she had both openers leg before. With Fouhy also picking up two wickets, St Albans was precariously placed at 19 for four. The innings was consolidated by an enterprising 32 from Susie Burrows. Towards the end of the order, Lloyd made a valuable unbeaten 28, but ran out of partners with St Albans just 12 short of their target. Anderson claimed another two wickets to finish with four. At Warren Park, Marist trounced East-Shirley to move into second place behind Park. East batted first, but Marist's accurate new-ball bowlers, Vanessa Lord and Katrina Withers, soon had the East innings in tatters with three wickets apiece, Lord also effecting a smart run-out. East-Shirley was bundled out for 35 with only Karen Le Comber reaching double figures. Catherine Campbell also had too much guile, not conceding any runs from her four overs and snaring three victims. Marist's Delwyn Brownlee and Withers quickly took the team through to its target, giving the game an early finish.
