Date-stamped : 04 Nov96 - 10:13 4 November 1996 Easy win over Marist keeps Lancaster Park on top Debbie Hockley and Trudy Anderson took the unbeaten Lancaster Park team to another effortless win in the senior women`s cricket competition in the weekend, this time over Marist. East Shirley also notched up another exciting victory over St Albans. Marist lost an early wicket to Lancaster Park, but in a solid second partnership Nicki Frew and Katrina Withers put on 58. However, they were the only batswomen to reach double figures. The team was all out in the 46th over for 101 with Helen Fouhy getting an impressive two for seven of eight overs. It took Hockley and Anderson 27 overs to knock up the runs for Lancaster Park with both players driving attractively. With the scores tied, Anderson was caught behind for 26, while Hock- ley made 54 not out giving Lancaster Park a nine-wicket win. On Hagley Oval, St Albans medium pacer Susie Burrows had both East`s openers back in the pavilion with the score on nine, but brilliant stroke play by Helen Watson who made 72 and Helen Bastion with 69 took the East total to 218 for seven. Sixty one runs were scored off the last 10 overs. For St Albans, Burrows was the best of the bowlers with two for 36 off 10 overs. The St Albans chase for 4.36 an over began brightly with Nicola Payne and Sally Frahm putting on 54. A very economical Karen le Comber made the vital breakthrough trapping Frahm in front.
