Date-stamped : 25 Nov96 - 06:13 25 November 1996 Lancaster Park Remains Unbeaten After Rare Tie Marist and Lancaster Park produced a rare tie in a nail-biting senior women's club cricket match at Ensors Rd on Saturday, with both sides being dismissed for 109. Park batted first and put on 29 for the first wicket, the team's best partnership, before Jane Maley captured the valuable wicket of Debbie Hockley. Wickets then fell at regular intervals, although Trudy Anderson and Vanessa Hensley added 27 for the fourth wicket. When Anderson fell to a brilliant catch at mid-wicket by Delwyn Brownlee, for 28, the innings was quickly wrapped up for 109, with Maley capturing three wickets. Marist lost opener Delwyn Brownlee early on, bowled by Fouhy for 14, before a good second wicket stand between Nicki Frew and Catherine Campbell took the score to 70. When Char Morgan removed both these players the middle order collapsed, eight wickets falling for 16 runs. The final pair of Vanessa Lord and Mel Portis came together with the score at 86 and battled through determinedly taking the score to 109 before Portis was leg before to Hockley for five. By tieing Park kept its unbeaten record this season. At Burwood Park Sarah Lloyd grabbed a five wicket bag to give St Albans a comfortable win against East Christchurch-Shirley. The St Albans openers Nicola Payne and Sally Frahm put on 53 with Payne and Jo Lawler adding 61 for the second wicket. Down the order some aggressive and enterprising batting from Anna Morris and Lloyd enabled St Albans to reach 226 for seven from its 50 overs. The East-Shirley chase was given a sound start with Tina McCormack and Karen Le Comber putting on 50. The latter also featured in a productive third wicket stand with Helen Watson. Then left armer Lloyd cleaned out the middle order after Jane Geary made the initial breakthrough to have East all out for 142.
