K.T.Francis will 'stand' in India

Sri Lanka and International Cricket Council (ICC) panel umpire K.T. Francis will officiate in the four-nation Independence Cup cricket tournament in India from May 9-30.

Francis is among a panel of six umpires named for the tournament which also features host India, Pakistan and New Zealand.

The panel comprises : S. Venkatragahavan and S.K. Bansall (both India), K.T. Francis (Sri Lanka), Steve Dunne (New Zealand), Steve Bucknor (West Indies), and Javed Akhtar (Pakistan).

Francis's assignments are : May 9 - Pakistan v New Zealand at Mohali (with S. Venkataraghavan), May 14 - India v New Zealand at Bangalore (third umpire), May 21 - India v Pakistan at Chennai (Madras) (with Steve Bucknor).

Further appointments for Francis will depend on which two countries reach the finals.
