Moody, Law in Aussie team for one-day tournament

3 December 1996

Big hitting all-rounder Tom Moody earned a recall into the Australian squad for the World Series triangular tournament against the West Indies and Pakistan.

Also named to the side was Stuart Law, while Michael Kasprowicz and Matthew Elliott, members of the team that on Tuesday beat the West Indies in the second Test at Sydney, are out of the squad.

Elliott suffered a knee injury in a mid-pitch collision with Mark Waugh and will be sidelined for at least three weeks, while Kasprowicz is seen as a bowler who does not suit the shorter version of the game.

Australia will play the first game of the series on Friday, when it takes on the West Indies at Melbourne, and then against the same opponents on Sunday.

The full squad is: Mark Taylor, Michael Bevan, Greg Blewett, Jason Gillespie, Ian Healy, Stuart Law, Glenn McGrath, Tom Moody, Ricky Pointing, Paul Reiffel, Shane Warne and Mark Waugh.

The Australian selectors, incidentally, indicated that this squad is only for the first two games, and changes could be made later in the tournament.
