The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board will meet at an Emergency meeting today to reconsider the appeal made by Sara trophy champions Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) on their suspension.

National Sports Council chairman Tory Jayawardena along with representatives of the Sports Ministry, the Cricket Board and CCC met yesterday over this issue.

After giving a hearing to the versions of the Cricket Board and the CCC, it was concluded the Cricket Board should reconsider the appeal of CCC with its ExCo.

The CCC were suspended from playing in the current season, on the grounds that they had not complied with Part 'B' of the Cricket Board's rules and regulations under Clause 11.3 concerning 'The Pitch'.

The CCC have been found fault by the tournament committee for not preparing the pitch for the Sara trophy match against SSC at Maitland Crescent on November 28.

The CCC have appealed against this suspension to the Cricket Board and to the Sports Minister.

It will be interesting to see what stand the Cricket Board's ExCo will take on the appeal.

If the Cricket Board's ExCo decides to stand by its earlier decision, the CCC has every right under the National Sports Law 30 to appeal to the Sports Minister.

This law states :''Any person who is aggrieved by any decision or action of a registered National Association of Sports may, in accordance with the succeeding provisions of this Law, appeal to the Minister against such decision or action and the Minister's decision on such appeal shall be final and conclusive and shall not be questioned in any court of Law''.
