The CCC has stated that the club has been affected as CTC Trading Company Limited - the sponsors of the CCC for division one cricket season of 1996/97 withdrew their sponsorship as a result of the suspension.
Then several division one players left the club and joined other cricket clubs being deprived of the opportunity of playing cricket for the CCC and earning a livelihood.
The club has lost the services of some of the best players long associated with the club and the other players have been deprived of the chance of playing cricket in the prestigious division one in the current season.
The chairman of the Gymkhana Club - the parent body of the CCC Deshabandu Surath Wickremasinghe says: ''In these circumstances grave and irreparable harm and loss and damages have been caused to the club, its members and the players.
Surath Wickremasinghe further requests the Cricket Board to hold an independent inquiry to the matters related to the suspension to provide an opportunity to the club to vindicate itself.
''If on the other hand our request is not accommodated and/or it is decided not to review the decision the club will deem it necessary to pursue its remedies in terms of the law through the courts,'' says Wickremasinghe in a news release.
