The Dulux Cricket Show was launched on Friday at a press briefing held at the CIC head office, Slave Island Speaking on the occasion the Managing Director of CIC Paints (Pvt) Limited Mr. Lal de Mel said that CIC Paints in association with MTV had launched the Dulux Cricket Show to support the growth and development of cricket. It will deal with current issues both local and international cricket. It will also offer coaching tips for young cricketers, interviews with leading cricketing personalities and stories of general interest on various aspects of the game.
Mr. de Mel said that the Dulux Cricket Show will stress the value of team-work and young cricketers from rural areas will gain proficiency in English by viewing this popular program.
The Marketing Manager (Decorative) of CIC Paints (Pvt) Limited Mr. Gerald de Saram thanked MTV for allowing Dulux to sponsor the cricket show. It will cover various aspects of cricket and it is a high quality production which will reflect the image of CIC. This cricket show will enhance the national interest in cricket and stress the value of team work so that Sri Lankans from all ethnic backgrounds will work together for the betterment of the country.
The host of the Dulux Cricket Show Mr. Brian Thomas said that the Cricket Show had created tremendous interest as they receive hundreds of letters from young cricketers and cricket fans from all parts of the country. He had already interviewed over 60 local and foreign sports personalities on the Cricket Show including leading cricket coaches which would have helped the youngsters viewing the programme to learn the finer points of the game.
Expert commentator of the Dulux Cricket Show and former Sir Lanka wicket-keeper Ranjith Fernando said that the Dulux Cricket show has done something good for cricket. It is a family show. Cricket is a family game and he was very happy that Dulux had come forward to sponsor the Cricket Show.
Mr. Fernando said that Sri Lankan Cricketers were nice guys who are being respected throughout the world for their behaviour on and off the field. The Cricket Show has created a lot of interest among cricket lovers and it would help youngsters to learn the finer points of the game. The media should give more exposure to sportsmen from lesser known schools so that the public would get to know about them.
Expert commentator of the Dulux Cricket Show and former Sri Lanka Test Cricketer Saliya Ahangama said that they will be doing more in-depth interviews with cricketing personalities on the cricket show. They will give the positive side of cricket administration so that the public will get to know what the administrators are doing for the promotion of the game in the country.
