Former CCC captain Waruna Waragoda made a memorable debut for his new club Tamil Union in the Sara trophy (Segment 'A') tournament by scoring a superb century (138 off 147 balls) on the opening day of their match against Antonian SC at the Sara Stadium yesterday.

The stockily built left-hander struck three sixes and 18 fours in a stay of 219 minutes to enable Tamil Union end the day strongly placed at 357 for 9 wickets. The in-form Upul Chandana weighed in with 56 in 91 minutes (1 six, 9 fours). The match continues today at 9.55 a.m.

Peiris in his 10th match of the season carried his personal tally to 53 wickets with yesterday's performance. The Cambrians in reply were 128 for 6 at the close. The match continues today at 10 a.m.
