* Table leaders SSC gets a good chance of maintaining their lead in the Sara trophy division 1 segment 'A' standings as they meet a relatively weaker opponent this weekend.

SSC who gained the lead in the premier league, conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, will meet Kalutara TC in their next match which starts at Maitland Place on Friday. The Maitland Place Club has registered two outright and one first innings wins in four outings.

Former table leaders Kurunegala YCC, who were pushed to the second place following their six-wicket defeat at the hands of Police SC, have a tough task when they play host to Bloomfield at Welagedara Stadium. Kurunegala YCC have recorded two outright and one first innings wins in four matches.

* The Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) are to appeal to the Minister of Sports once more for redemption, on the grounds that they have been unfairly suspended from playing in the current division I Segment 'A' Sara trophy tournament.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board's executive committee on the recommendation of its tournament committee, suspended Sara trophy champions CCC for violating Clause 11.3 concerning 'The Pitch' under Part 'B' of its rules and regulations. The CCC appealed to the Cricket Board against this decision but the BCCSL Ex-co turned down and decided the suspension should stand.
