Major honours for DSS

D. S. Senanayake College took major honours in their inter-school cricket encounter against St.Joseph's College which ended in a draw at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.

The visitors were dismissed for 208 in their first innings with off spinner Arshard Junaid claiming 6 for 63. D.S.Senanayake in their second innings reached 174 for 5 with Duminda Perera com- pleting one thousand runs for the season during his knock of 60.

D.S.Senanayake: 248 for 5 decl and 174 for 5 (R.Sureshchandra 23, M.Maduwantha 26, S.Lafir 23, D.Perera 60, M.Gajanayake 23, M.Perera 2 for 20).

Bens get 180

Ananda were 113 for 4 wickets at the close after having bowled out St. Benedict's for 180 on the first day of their interschools cricket match which began at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

Sylvestrians in strong position

A good spill of slow medium pace bowling by Ranga Dissanayake (8 for 38) and a fine knock of 106 with 12 fours by opener Arosha Perera put St. Sylvester's College in a strong position in their inter-school cricket match against Kingswood College which began at Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

With a full days play remaining the Sylvestrians look set to score their first win this season unless the Kingswoodians put up a brave effort in the second essay to stall their opponents.

Kingswood College 122 all out in 46.2 overs 150 mts (T. Madanayake 34, S. Ranaweera 16, C. Senaviratne 24, R. Perera 14, Ranga Dissanayake 8 for 38).

Dharmasoka force a draw

The inter-school criucket encounter between Dharmasoka and Isipatana ended in a draw at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama yesterday.

Dharmasoka 164 and 124 for 8 at close (S.W. Sanjeeva 35, J.C.Manoj 31, N.T.Thenuwara 17, I.C.Soysa 28 n.o,Suresh Perera 3 for 61, Vidura Nuwan 5 for 35).
