Dharmaraja Kingswood at Police grounds?

There is a strong possibility of the oldest Big Match in the Hill capital between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College being played at Police grounds, Kandy this year probably on March 15 and 16.

The Asgiriya Cricket Stadium has been the venue of this Big Match for the past 15 years or more but this year the organisers of this match have run into a snag as the Asgiriya Stadium has been booked for the Trinity - Antonian Big Match which will be played on March 14 and 15. With the Local Government elections being expected to be held the following week, the organisers are keen to play this match early.

It must be recalled that in the good old days this Big Match had been played at Police grounds for a very long period before it was shifted to the Asgiriya Stadium in the early eighties. This Big Match had been also played at Randles Hill, Lake View and the Bogambara grounds before the sixties. If this Big Match is played at Police grounds, it will be a sweet home-coming for the big match revellers of the years gone by.
