Date-stamped : 18 Feb97 - 10:15 14 February 1997 Ambrose, Benjamin sidelined ST. JOHN`S, Antigua, Cana - West Indies pacers Curtly Ambrose and Kenneth Benjamin will miss the Leewards Islands` fourth round Red Stripe Cup match against Barbados this weekend because of in- juries. Ambrose noted that his thigh injury suffered in the just conclud- ed tour of Australia is still "a bit tender". He said he should be available for the Leeward Islands` encounter against the Wind- ward Islands next weekend. Benjamin`s injury is a slight back strain on the opposite side to the injury suffered against Australia which caused him to be sent home from the Australia tour, Leewards` manager Carlisle Powell said. He noted that the injury may have been caused by the bowler`s at- tempt to "over-compensate" for the previous injury. Meanwhile, selectors have called up young Montserratian leg-spin- ner Angello Bass to replace Benjamin, the only change in the 13-man squad which played against Trinidad and Tobago. The Leewards are fourth in the standings with 12 points, trailing leaders Barbados (48), Jamaica (28) and Trinidad and Tobago (20).
