He took 10 wickets and hit an unbeaten 72 in Warwickshire`s victory by an innings and 103 runs over Sussex at Stratford in the three-day 2nd XI championship. Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Edmond moved with his family to Syd- ney at the age of two and is qualified for England and Australia. He came to the attention of Warwickshire when he represented Aus- tralia last autumn and then when he played for Birmingham club Stumps in the British Indoor League. He played grade cricket in Sydney and decided last autumn to try his luck in the English county game. He said: "I gave myself six months to find a county and Warwickshire signed me two weeks before the season started." Darren Altree, a left-arm pace bowler, is also enjoying a good start for Warwickshire. He took five for 32 in the second in- nings against Sussex to add to his 12- wicket haul in the pre- vious win over champions Hampshire. Durham have also recorded two victories, including a win by an innings and 76 runs against Northamptonshire, who finished second last season. Alan Walker, the former Northants player, took seven wickets in the match while Stewart Hutton contributed 127, his second century of the season following an undefeated 137 in the Bain Hogg one-day success over Nottinghamshire.
