Date-stamped : 24 May96 - 02:16 23 May 1996 Walsh threatens Surrey with pace By Charles Randall COURTNEY WALSH could have trouble in store for Surrey as they enter their Britannic Assurance Championship game at King`s School, Gloucester, today with four of their England players absent at the Texaco Trophy. Two years ago Surrey pipped Walsh`s Gloucestershire side by one wicket off the final ball at Archdeacon Meadow, but this time they look vulnerable against Walsh`s pace. Gloucestershire have brought Monte Lynch back to face his former county. The old stager, who was 38 on Tuesday, is restored after early season disciplinary sanctions and he joins Nick Trainor, 20, an opener from Durham, who is making his debut. Somerset have been counting the cost of a brush with Walsh in the previous match before their game against Northamptonshire at Taunton. Richard Harden had his right index finger broken at Bristol, but Peter Bowler, who needed 17 stitches in a face wound, and Rob Turner, with bruised knuckles, are expecting to play today. Somerset might just be wondering whether Curtly Ambrose, Walsh`s West Indies colleague, has recovered from knee trouble today. Worcestershire are likely to give a debut to Matthew Rawns- ley, 19, a tall left-arm spinner, against a Tony Cottey-led Glamorgan at Abergavenny. Darren Cousins, the injured Essex fast-bowler, could be out for two months if his back trouble proves to be a stress frac- ture.
