Date-stamped : 12 Sep96 - 10:10 Byas puts Yorkshire in control By Andrew Collomosse at Scarborough Yorks (198-5) bt Worcs (197) by 5 wkts DAVID BYAS led from the front as Yorkshire won the Tetley Bitter Trophy for the fifth time in seven years. The Yorkshire captain, clearly at ease on his home ground, scored his second century in three days to guide his side to a comfortable victory with six overs to spare. Byas scarcely played a false stroke as he carried his bat for a match-winning 106, including two sixes and 12 fours, making his second man-of-the-match award of the competition a formality. Yorkshire`s pursuit of 197 in 50 overs was not all plain sailing. After Martyn Moxon was unluckily run out, Michael Vaughan, Anthony McGrath and Craig White fell cheaply to leave Yorkshire in trouble on 70 for four. Byas, however, found a staunch ally in Richard Blakey. They added 99 in 21 overs to put Yorkshire within sight of victory. In contrast, no Worcester player was able to make a major contribution.
