Date-stamped : 23 Jul96 - 22:18 AXA Equity & Law League Lancashire v Derbyshire Old Trafford 21 July 1996 ====> REPORT Derbyshire (191-5) bt Lancs (188) by 5 wkts SEVERAL muscular blows by England pace bowler Phillip DeFreitas carried Derbyshire to a comfortable win, with 25 balls to spare, over his old team-mates. When he went in to bat in the 29th over Derbyshire were faltering at 127 for five with 62 needed and Lancashire looking about to take control. In 29 balls he hit four fours and four sixes, fittingly complet- ing victory and his half-century with a six. He scored 50 not out in a partnership of 64 with Tim O`Gorman. For Derbyshire, it was all very heartening in view of the NatWest Trophy quarter-final between the teams on this ground next week. Andy Harris had unsettled Lancashire with three wickets in the opening 10 overs and with Colin Wells polishing off the tail with four for 20, Lancashire were bowled out with 21 balls remaining. Lancashire wicketkeeper Warren Hegg continued his good form with the bat, being their main contributor with 42.
