Date-stamped : 25 Apr96 - 14:12 One day friendly British Universities v Warwickshire The Parks, Oxford 24 April 1996 ====> REPORT Knight puts students to sword By Geoffrey Dean in The Parks Warwicks (355-7) bt British Univs (187-8) by 168 runs THE Warwickshire juggernaut warmed up for the Benson and Hedges zonal games with a crushing victory over British Universities. As a contest the game was over by the 25th over, with Warwickshire already 193 for one. The county returned only a week ago from their pre-season tour to Cape Town. Nick Knight ran into some form there and continued it yesterday with 128 from 134 balls, as well as two excellent slip catches. He pulled particularly well as the students struggled to find the right length. They did, at least, restrict Warwickshire to 63 from the last 10 overs. Dominic Ostler, Paul Smith and Dermot Reeve all scored at quicker than a-run-a-ball. When the students batted, another Warwickshire player, Anurag Singh, looked a class above the rest, making 40 off 65 balls. Lancashire`s Mark Harvey, of Loughborough, made a spirited unbeaten 63.
