Humidity test for England A
By Geoffrey Dean in Colombo
14 January 1998
ENGLAND A have plenty of time to adjust to conditions in Colombo
before their first four-day Test against the Sri Lankans starts
at the end of the month.
Judging by the bowlers' reactions yesterday to the 30-degree
heat and exceptional humidity, time will be needed to adjust to
this seven-week tour.
Paul Hutchison, the Yorkshire fast bowler, said on arrival: ``I
could hardly breathe when I got off the plane.''
England, who play their first match on Saturday, are housed in
the same hotel as the Zimbabweans, who start the second Test
against Sri Lanka at Singhalese Sports Club today.
