The pool comprises five Test players - Ruwan Kalpage, Sanjeeva Ranatunga, Russel Arnold, Pubudu Dasanayake and Dulip Liyanage and, three players with one-day international experience - Hemantha Wickremaratne, Chaminda Mendis and Erik Upashantha.
A captain will be named shortly to lead Sri Lanka 'A' either from the pool or from the national side.
England 'A' are due on January 12 for a 53-day tour of Sri Lanka consisting of 11 matches.
The first 4-day unofficial Test is scheduled for January 30 at Kurunegala, the second on February 6 at Kandy and the third on February 19 at Matara.
The three unofficial one-day internationals will take place on February 28 at Galle, on March 1 at Moratuwa Stadium and on March 3 at the SSC grounds.
