Pakistan-India A teams second one-day today

LAHORE, March 14: Pakistan 'A' team will play with the ``winning combination'' against India 'A' side in second One-day International at the Qadhafi Stadium on Sunday in a bid to build an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Selectors Zaheer Abbas and Shafiq Ahmad ``Papa'' (also the manager of the team) decided to retain the team which had outplayed the visitors in the first match at Sheikhupura on Friday.

The match will begin at 9:30 am and will be telecast live.International umpires Iftikhar Malik andMuhammad Siddique will supervise the match while Abdul Hameed ``Popa'' and Azhar Husain will be the scorers. Sultan Rana will be the referee.

The Pakistan 'A' side practised at the Academy ground adjacent to the Qadhafi Stadium in the morning for a couple of hours in bright sunshine. But weather of Lahore has been very unpredictable this season. It is hoped the Lahorities will be entertained by the two team with an interesting match in the sunny and pleasant weather.

A pitch more favourable to the batsmen has been prepared and spectators can enjoy very fine stroke-play as the two teams possess such batsmen who can thrill them if get going. The Indian team looks determined to come back in the series of limited-overs by notching up a win at Lahore. That could make the deciding third match of the series at Karachi on March 17 more fiercely fought.

Talking to this reporter on Saturday evening, the former Test opener and coach of the India 'A' side Srikkanth said that although his players were relatively less experienced but they would be learning from their mistakes and try to put up a good show at Lahore.

The Indian coach said that the India 'A' side would be named after having a good look at the pitch. ``In fact, we have not yet seen the wicket and held back the announcement of theeleven'', informed Srikkanth.

Both teams are balanced. They have very good stroke-players, spinners and pacemen. The Pakistan 'A' team has more experience both in batting and bowling. However, the India 'A' team has an edge in fielding. All-in-all a very exciting match is in the offing.

India 'A' (from): Captain Khoda, Haldipur, Paranjape, Sodhi, Rohan Gavaskar, Raul, Bahutule, Agarkar, Prasad, David, Madhukar, Abbas Ali, Wasim Jafar, Kartik.
