Pakistan 'A' side for 3rd 'Test' named

LAHORE, Feb 27: A 13-member Pakistan ``A'' team was announced for the specially arranged third unofficial cricket Test which will begin against India ``A'' side at the Qadhafi Stadium on Sunday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) secretary Waqar Ahmad made public names of the players of Pakistan ``A'' team on Friday.

Bayazid Khan, son of the PCB chief executive Majid Khan, has been included in the side for the first time ever since he returned from South Africa after leading the Pakistan junior team in the junior World Cup Cricket Tournament.

The Pakistani Eleven will be finalised on morning of the four-day match. The team is led by Test paceman Aaqib Javed and its manager and coach is national selector Shafiq Ahmad ``Papa''.

The 13-member team includes openers Saleem Elahi and Shahid Afridi. It has middle-order batsmen Basit Ali, Hasan Raza, Akhtar Sarfaraz and Humayun Farhat (also a wicketkeeper). Paceman Abdul Razzaq is also a useful batsman.

The battery of pacemen besides Aaqib Javed and Abdul Razzaq also includes Sajid Shah and Jafar Nazir. Shahid Afridi is a fine rightarm leg-spinner and so is Ali Husain Rizvi. The Test left-arm spinner Muhammad Husain has also been included in 13 players.

Captain Aaqib Javed, Basit Ali, Saleem Elahi, Shahid Afridi, Hasan Raza, Bayazid Khan, Akhtar Sarfaraz, Abdul Razzaq, Humayun Farhat, Ali Husain Rizvi, Muhammad Husain, Sajid Shah, Jafar Nazir. Manager and Coach: Shafiq Ahmad ``Papa''.

The unofficial Test has been arranged to provide an opportunity to both the Pakistan ``A'' and India ``A'' teamsfor gaining international experience. The first unofficial Test at Rawalpindi and the second at Peshawar were marred by rains.
