The Sri Lankan cricketers will not lack for want of crowd support when they begin their campaign with a game against South Africa tomorrow to win the Standard Bank Triangular tourney which also features Pakistan.

Flying down or motoring will be around 400 Sri Lankans from nearby Botswana. They are all keen to cheer and motivate the cricketers who are a bit down after their unexpected defeat against South Africa in the second Test.

The Sri Lankan supporters from Botswana have been gathered together by leading businessman and business consultant Kabeer Issadeen and they will all be here in full force shouting for the cricketers.

Cheer leader Lionel who is also a big hit here and who has endeared himself to all South African spectators will be with the supporters from Botswana singing, shouting encouragement and doing his thing. So it is going to be scenes reminiscent with some of the inter-school matches in Sri Lanka.

A few supporters from Sri Lanka are also due here.

In the meantime the cricketers are spending a lot of time at the nets determined to get their one-day act together and show the South Africans that their triumph in the World Cup was no flash in the pan.

The 'cowboy game' will see the return of allrounders Kumara Dharmasena and Upul Chandana. They are expected to play a big part in helping Sri Lanka to success.

'Hit man' Chaminda Vaas has also been at the nets. He has not gone flat out. He will be used in short spells and this is how he has been practising at the nets. With the bowling department very bare Vaas' presence is vital to skipper Ranatunga and to relieve the load work from Muralidaran.

The sad news is that Nuwan Zoysa has a knee injury that is not going to heal quickly. But The Management here are doing their utmost to get this youngster fit and firing. But medical opinion is that he will be out for at least three months. Sad on the youngster who has always been beset by injuries that is curbing a promising career as a allrounder.

The Sri Lankan cricketers are still trying to figure out what caused their sensational batting collapse in the second innings of the Centurion Park Test. It was a collapse they would soon want to get out of their system.

South Africa and Pakistan fear the Lankans when it comes to the one-day game. If the Lankans play true to ability and if that thing called luck, which is very important even in everyday life plays for them, then this triangular will be theirs.
