Date-stamped : 26 Sep97 - 06:10 Friday 26, September 1997 SLB XI 60/0 Daily News Efforts to squeeze in as much play as possible against the back drop of the present bad weather, resulted in the Sri Lanka Board XI and the touring Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy (CBCA) using up 83 minutes of a rain-shortened first day of their 3-day game begun at the SSC grounds yesterday. The match which replaced the first two one-day limited-over matches, started only at 1.45 p.m. due to a soggy outfield. However, only 19.4 overs were bowled before the rains returned to wash out play for the rest of the day. Sri Lanka Board XI winning the toss and taking first lease of the pitch, reached 60 without loss through openers Chaminda Mendis (32 with 3 fours) and Shantha Kalavitigoda (28 with 2 fours) within that limited space of time. The match continues today at 9.30 a.m. Source :: Daily News (http://www.lanka.net) Contributed by The Management (help@cricinfo.com)
