Pakistani veterans lose

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: Indian veterans Wednesday lifted the Independence Cricket Cup by defeating Pakistan veterans in the third one-dayer at Ahmedabad by eight runs to take a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match series, Door Darshan reported.

Pakistan's skipper, Zaheer Abbas won the toss and put India into bat first. Pakistan restricted Indians to a modest total of 156 runs. Ashok Malhotra scored 54 runs while Yashpal Sharma made 36 valuable runs during the Indian innings.

For Pakistan, Rashid Khan claimed three wickets and alrounder Naveed Anjum took two wickets. In reply, Pakistan were all out for 148. They lost an early wicket of Zaheer Abbas. Hereafter, Sajid Ali and Rizwan-uz-Zaman took the score to 78. Raghu Ram Bhat claimed three wickets while Sandeep Patil took two wickets.-APP
