Being put in to bat, the New Zealand side hit a good total of 101 for the loss of three wickets. Nathan Astle scored 43 runs on 24 deliveries. He hit three sixes and three boundaries. Astle was out twice. Chris Harris scored 49 runs on 24 balls. Harris hit six huge sixes and as many boundaries. He was out once. Fannie de Villiers had the Kenyan batsmen twice while Adrian Kuiper claimed one wicket.
The South African batsmen were out for an unbelievable number of 13 times and could hit a total of only 59. Kuiper scored 38 and was out six times. Fannie de Villiers hit 20 and was out seven times.
Harris claimed the South African batsmen out seven times and Astle five time. Kuiper was also run out once.
In a match which had no bearing on semi-final positions, the Kenyan team registered its first win of the tournament when it beat Zimbabwe by 53 runs.
The Kenyan pair scored 114 for one. Steve Tikolo hit 57 on 26 balls with the help of three big sixes and as many fours. He was out once on a delivery of Heath Streak.
The Zimbabwe pair put up the worst performance of the tournament by accumulating 104 runs but getting out five times.
Alistair Campbell scored 69 on 33 balls but was out four times. He hit ten fours and two sixes. Heath Streak scored 27 on 16 balls and was out once. He hit three boundaries and a six. Odoyo had the Zimbabwe batsmen out twice and Tikolo three times. The Kenyan side coasted to an easy win by 53 runs. It was a consolation victory for the Kenyan pair as both the teams dropped out of the race for semi-finals.
