The chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Majid Khan, categorically denied sending of two players to Zimbabwe.
``That's absolutely untrue. We are not sending any players, not at the moment,'' was his first reaction when reached for comments.
``The one-day matches are still two weeks away,'' he added.
But when told that Rashid Latif has been quoted as saying that the tour management have called Akhtar Sarfaraz and Shahid Afridi, Majid said: ``I have knowledge about this.
``We haven't received any request so far. I don't know where you got the story from.
``It was the job of the selectors to pick players. If a request comes, we would pass it on to the selectors,'' he said.
He wondered how the tour management can ask for players when they already have 17 at their disposal. ``They haven't named the players they are releasing but have disclosed the names of the players they want there. Isn't that amazing,'' he said.
The PCB official said since there was no chairman of selectors, the two selectors remained the only authorized men. He said there wasn't any real need to seek approval if the board had to send some players.
Majid Khan also partially agreed to the point that the tour management can send a request like they wanted a batsman or a bowler while it was upto the selectors at home to decide who was the best available player that meets the demand.
However, there have been instances where the cricket authorities have accepted the requests that have come by name.
