Promodaya Wickremasinghe regains his slot in the Sri Lanka team that has been picked to tour India for a three Test and One Day Series beginning later this month.

Wicket-keeper batsman Romesh Kaluwitharna who was tipped to make the tour has been dropped and the selectors have placed their faith in Lanka Silva.

Upul Chandana and Dulip Liyanage who are in Pakistan have been dropped and in come Jayantha Silva and Ravindra Pushpakumara.

Mahela Jayawardena with his consistent batting has also been included.

According to reports Wickremasinghe has regained his fire of old and is bowling at his best. He is easily the fastest of the lot and if he strikes a length and with his ability to move the ball both ways could trouble the Indian batsmen.

The touring team: Arjuna Ranatunga (capt), Aravinda de Silva (vice capt), Roshan Mahanama, Hashan Tillekeratne, Sanath Jayasuriya, Marvan Atapattu, Mahela Jayawardena, Lanka Silva, Muttiah Muralitheran, Chaminda Vaas, Pramodaya Wickremasinghe, Ravindra Pushpakumara, Sajeewa de Silva, Kumara Dharmasena, Jayantha Silva and Russel Arnold.
