Manzoor has struck two centuries and a half century in four first-class matches this season, including an unbeaten century against South Africa at Peshawar. Manzoor is presently in Lahore and is preparing for Allied Bank's third round match against National Bank starting at the Qadhafi Stadium from Friday.

Besides Manzoor, the selectors are also expected to recall opener Ali Naqvi and wrist spinner Mushtaq Ahmad.

The expected 13 are: Wasim Akram (captain), Saeed Anwar (vice captain), Ali Naqvi, Aamir Sohail, Inzamamul Haq, Mohammad Wasim, Manzoor Akhtar, Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Azhar Mahmood, Aqib Javed, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmad.

The expected ouster of Waqar Younis and Ijaz Ahmad is surprising. Both are being sidelined because of current form, sources said. Younis, who bowled Glamorgan to their first county championship title in 28 years, grabbed more than 60 wickets in his debut season. However, the pacer is struggling to adjust to different conditions here and the selectors have made form as the base of his ouster.

Younis, in the two Tests against South Africa, got four wickets conceding 124 runs at 31 each with a best of two for 36. As far as Ijaz Ahmad is concerned, sources revealed that the selectors had, in fact, decided to drop him in the final match of the quadrangular tournament against Sri Lanka. The selectors, instead, had selected Mohammad Wasim.

Nevertheless, skipper Wasim Akram used his veto power and retained Ijaz to annoy the selectors as well as the other cricket authorities. Ijaz, in four Test innings, got only 43 runs with 16 as his top score.
